Junior Membership Details - Important - Please Read Carefully
Welcome to the 2019 cricket season at Walton.
Walton-on-Thames Cricket Club offer a safe and friendly environment for your children to have fun learning to play the wonderful game of cricket. In 2010 we were awarded ClubMark status recognising our 'Safeguarding Children Policy' and high standards of cricket coaching. This year we are looking to further develop our juniors section with continued investment designed to offer more opportunity, better coaching and more enjoyment for all our boys and girls.
We hope that your child will thoroughly enjoy their cricket this year. It's a big year for cricket in general, with the World Cup and the Ashes taking place in England, and we hope that these events will help inspire even greater enthusiasm for cricket in our youngsters.

Don’t forget to pick up your coffee and bacon roll from our Sunday morning cafe and check out cricket clothing Club Kit Shop where you can now purchase official Walton on Thames cricket clothing for matches or training. Items include shirts, caps, sweaters and trousers etc. Just click on Club Kit Shop located on the Home page.
We would also like to hear from any Mums and Dads interested in playing Saturday or Sunday cricket. This year our girls team are entered into two cricket festivals when we play matches against other clubs in Surrey.
Students taking the Duke of Edinburgh Award can fulfil their community volunteer service section by helping with U8’s cricket coaching on a Sunday morning.
We have entered teams in seven age groups in the West Surrey League or Glady's Chitty League and cup competitions at all age groups where possible. Fixture Cards will be distributed at a coaching session as soon as they become available. Fixtures are also posted on this website.
Match Fees are £2 for all junior matches. These go towards paying for pitch preparation, match balls and infrastructure costs. Please make sure match fees are paid; team managers’ have plenty to do without chasing after them. Failure to pay may result in your child being dropped from a team.
We don’t have the resources to warn parents if a coaching session has to be called off because of the weather. If you are doubtful about a session being held and want to avoid an unnecessary journey to the club look on the website.
Junior’s should come with a cap or other headgear, cream for protection against the sun and water/soft drink in a suitable container.
The England and Wales Cricket Board has issued guidance on the wearing of helmets. As a consequence of this, the Club policy is that all Junior must wear helmets when batting against a hard ball or ‘standing up’ when keeping wicket against a hard ball. The Club may be able to provide helmets, but these are limited in number. Therefore, it is suggested that Junior may wish to purchase their own helmets for the same reason they purchase other protective equipment e.g. pads, gloves.
Please also note that batsmen must also wear an abdominal protector (box).
We may wish to video any Colt or Cygnet for coaching purposes. In addition, we may wish to take still photographs, e.g. team photographs. In the current climate, it is recognised that some parents may object to this. If this is so in your case, please let the Junior Manager or Coaching Secretary know in writing.
Only those details which you personally authorise are available to other members. Any other information which you input is available only to approved administrators within the Club. Registration gives you access to the members' section of the website, which will news on club, junior section, training, age group teams and matches.
Things for you to consider
For the Junior section to be a success we need help from parents, so please:
• Encourage your Junior in all endeavours to improve his/her game and in the adoption of a sporting attitude
• Support the Coaches and Team Managers. If you are unhappy with any of their actions they will be happy to discuss matters with you
• Provide appropriate kit for your junior
• Bring and collect your junior on time – not five minutes late
• Support juniors during matches. If your junior is playing in a match come and watch; this is most needed at away matches. Otherwise, juniors will still appreciate your support during home matches
We always need help with scoring, umpiring and coaching. If you are willing to help with any of these, please come forward. Contact Graham Mann M:07429 440917 or email@example.com
